JOHN MAYER CONCERT/January 27, 2007 Last night was seriously one of the BEST nights of my life!!! My cousin and I went to the John Mayer concert in Coral Gables and OH MY GOD!!!!! Sit back and relax so you can take in all that I am about to tell you. I am still in awe about it all myself. My cousin and I arrived an hour early. We took our seats in section 116, seats 9 and 10. After about five minutes, we decided to go back outside and check out the t-shirts and CDs they had on sale. We merely browsed and then went back in and sat down. No sooner had our rear ends met with the chairs, that a woman materialized in front of us. She began asking us all sorts of questions, such as if we were really big John Mayer fans and what our favorite songs of his were, etc. Then she asked us, "If you could sit anywhere here tonight, where would it be?" My cousin blurted out, "On the stage, next to HIM!" The woman smiled and said, "What would you say if I told you I was the ticket fairy?" I was stumped. All I could say was, "Ok." She then proceeded to tell us that she worked for John Mayer and that before every show, she goes out among the audience and finds excited fans like us. She gave us two FRONT ROW FLOOR SEAT TICKETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could not believe our good fortune. My knees were weak and my vision was blurred even though I had on my new glasses. My cousin was so nervous and excited, I thought she might cry. I hugged the woman and thanked her profusely. We nervously made our way down to the very first row and our seats happened to be RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE MICROPHONE!!!!! Wait, the story gets even better. His opening act, Josh Rouse, was great. He sings really beautiful and plays awesome guitar. We really enjoyed his music. Then, when John Mayer came out, we went insane. We were right in front of him. Had he stood on the speakers and leaned forward, we could have hugged him. I took so many great photos. I was on cloud nine. Right as he finished one of his first songs, he threw a guitar pick out into the crowd. My cousin caught it and went psychotic with ecstasy. I have never seen her act that way. The voice that emerged from her body didn't sound human. I laughed through three songs straight. Toward the end of the show, a girl near us kept shouting for him to play her favorite song called "Stop This Train." He actually played it for her and sang it to her. I tried my luck out and kept shouting for him to play MY favorite song of his, which is called "Neon." HE PLAYED IT!!! AND HE SMILED AT ME AS HE SANG IT!!! I thought I was dreaming. I kept pinching myself to make sure I wasn't actually at home sleeping. He sang so beautiful and played the guitar so expertly, I couldn't help the tears that streamed down my face as he sang my song for me. At the end of the show, I managed to get a guitar pick as well and we got to meet Josh Rouse and took a picture with him. He was very gracious as he shook my hand and I thanked him for giving us such a wonderful show and told him how much I enjoyed his music. Once outside, we made our way to the tour buses and waited for a whole hour for John to reappear and possibly autograph our CDs. I took my favorite of his albums (his first, "Room For Squares"). He actually appeared and I managed to get him to autograph it. I almost got to shake his hand, too, but a psychotic fan knocked me out of the way before his fingers grasped mine. Oh well. At least I got him to sing to me. It was all very magical and special- truly one of the best concerts I have ever been to. If he ever tours in Miami again for another album, I will definitely attend and perhaps then I will finally get a handshake or a picture with him. Now, here are the AWESOME pictures I took at the concert. Oh, and also the pictures I promised you guys of my new "sets of eyes." These concert pictures are dedicated to kidzpinkcat who shares my love for John Mayer. My new glasses:
