I Am Sick- Plus: A Movie Review/February 04, 2007 Right now, It is pouring rain outside. It hasn't stopped raining all day. This yucky weather doesn't help matters, as I am sick. My throat is on fire and I am battling a fever. I drank some tea earlier and it made me feel better, but I'm not at my best. Despite my being under the weather, this past weekend was fun. Friday night's plans were canceled due to miscommunication, but my Saturday was quite enjoyable. In the early morning, my cousins and I swung by Burger King for breakfast and then headed to the mall. FYE uses Ticketmaster and we were looking to purchase floor tickets to The Killers, who will be coming to Hollywood, FL. in April. The tickets were set to go on sale at 12 p.m. We did a bit of shopping to pass the time and then headed to FYE. Luck was on our side. We managed to get four tickets in front of the stage. I'm turning into a concert junkie. After the transaction was complete, we left the mall and I bid my cousins good bye. I had plans to hang out with two of my best girlfriends. We ate junk food, talked and laughed, watched old movies and called it a day around 7 p.m. From there, my boyfriend and I went to a buffet and had dinner with his mother and sister and a few friends from their church. Afterward, we hung out at his house and played poker for a bit, before retiring to my house for the night. ::: Today, my mother and best friend and I hit the matinee showing of The Messengers. I was a bit a skeptical about the film, mainly because the horror movies that have been coming out lately are utter crap, but I tried to maintain an overall positive outlook on it. I am happy to report that the movie is well-worth watching and it is scary. I jumped and screamed a lot, which didn't help my sore throat at all. The story was good and a bit sad. The effects were great and the music made our hair stand on end. I give it two thumbs up. As a brief review: The movie is about a family of four who move to an old farm house in the middle of no where. The father has bought the chunk of land in order to harvest sunflower seeds. Their teenage daughter is unhappy about the move, as she had to leave behind all of her friends and the familiarity of city life. It becomes apparent that her parents have trust issues with her due to some trouble she got into back in the city. Her baby brother is the most adorable little boy you've ever seen and although he is very smart, he does not speak. You find out why later. Almost immediately, horrible, frightening things begin to occur to the young woman, named Jess, inside of the house. It is obviously haunted by very restless and angry spirits. Her baby brother and herself are the only ones who can see the ghosts. The movie is rated PG-13, but I don't think any children under the age of 14 or 15 should view it. It's quite disturbing. ::: Here are some pictures from the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert:
