Future's Uncertainty & the Horror of Spice World Footwear/February 25, 2007 I think most people harbor a notion about what makes a good spouse and/or parent. I certainly have ideas about how I want to things to be when I reach those stages some day. Of course, I understand that not everything in life runs smoothly and that it won't always be a bowl of cherries. Ideas are just ideas. Actually living the experience of what it is like to be married or what it is like to be a parent is an entirely different story. No one is born knowing how to be either. The knowledge of it all just comes to you as it happens. That said, you can't let fear of uncertainty stop you from trying new things or taking on new challenges. One of Sundry's latest entries really hit close to home with me this past week and reading her words put things into perspective for me. I hope that some day, I can handle those big challenges with grace and maturity and that I can be a good wife and mother. ::: This past weekend was just the what the doctor ordered. Erik and I hung out with our best friends the entire weekend and had a blast. On Friday night, we went out to T.G.I. Friday's and had a fantastic dinner, followed by a movie. We saw Reno 911! Miami. I hadn't laughed like that in ages. If you're wondering what type of humor it is, here are two words to sum it up for you: perverted and stupid. The movie is based on the hit television show. It's the type of show that has characters that are so stupid, they frustrate you, but they make you laugh at the same time. I recommend it to those of you who are into this kind of comedy. ::: Erik and I will be purchasing concert tickets yet again this Friday. The Flaming Lips are coming to Pompano Beach this April and we are as excited as kids on Christmas morning. We can not wait! Again, I will have two concerts in the same month. I feel like a teenager, which is funny, because as a teenager, I never really went to concerts. I saw the Backstreet Boys when I was in junior high, back when I was one of those psychotic teeny boppers who would foam at the mouth at the sight of a Devon Sawa poster freshly pulled from a Tiger Beat magazine. I was also dragged to a Ricky Martin concert when I was fifteen by one of my best friends. Trust me, although I liked belting out La Vida Loca when it played on the radio, I didn't like him that much. My best friend, Lou, got hold of two tickets from her cousin and had no one to go with her. So, she invited me and finally
Notice the fine layer of dust and cobwebs- a great indication of how long these babies have been sitting in the back of my closet untouched. There was also the time one of my aunts took me to the Y-100 Wingding. It used to be an annual outdoor extravaganza hosted by a local radio station here in Miami. They would have dozens of musical guests and the time that I went, I saw quite a few stars perform. To name a few: LFO, Jordan Knight and Willy Chirino. So, yes, now that I am much older and have better taste in music, I am getting my fill of kick ass concerts and fun. Now, if you'll excuse me, I must return those lame shoes to their rightful spot at the back of my closet. The fact that I just admitted to ever having owned and worn those abominations will give you all license enough to mock me mercilessly for the rest of my natural born life! Even worst, I STILL HAVE THEM! I just can't bring myself to get rid of them. I suppose I just want to keep them so that I can show my future offspring how their mother used to dress during the Spice Girl era. Shoot me now. P.S. I still foam at the mouth whenever I see a Johnny Depp poster. 1 comments so far |
